About — How This Site Works
SumSorted is an independent calculator site built to answer everyday UK money questions — take-home pay, tax, statutory payments, property costs — instantly and accurately, with the rule behind every result shown on the page.
Accuracy is the whole point. Every rate, band and threshold we use is taken from official sources — HMRC, gov.uk, legislation.gov.uk, revenue.scot, gov.wales — and cited in the "Sources" section at the bottom of each page. Most calculator sites copy each other; we don't. Each figure is verified against the primary source, which is why some of our results differ from what you may see elsewhere: a number of widely-used calculators still show rates that changed months or years ago.
If we cannot verify a figure, we do not publish it. Where an official table leaves a rate genuinely unclear, our tools say so rather than guessing. Refusing to answer is better than answering wrongly.
Tax rules change constantly, and stale figures fail silently — a result can look plausible and still be wrong. So every tool has an update schedule: income tax and National Insurance each April, statutory payments at the start of the tax year, devolved property taxes at each budget, and time-sensitive rates like Premium Bonds monthly.
Results are for guidance only and are not financial, tax or legal advice. If you spot an error, use the contact page — reports are reviewed the same day and corrections published immediately.
